Umair holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of London in the United Kingdom and has completed further studies in criminology at the University of Melbourne. He also completed the academic requirements for recognition of his law degree in Australia through La Trobe University, followed by practical legal training at the College of Law.

He has completed specialist courses in trust accounting and legal practice management as part of obtaining principal practising status. Early in his career, Umair interned at Cornelius, Lane & Mufti, one of Pakistan’s leading law firms, and worked under the leadership of prominent senior lawyer and political leader Hamid Khan.

Umair was admitted to the Australian legal profession by the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2019 and has since practised predominantly in civil litigation and dispute resolution, representing clients across a broad range of civil and commercial matters.
